Basic Turbine Knowledge (Helicopter)

The BTK (Helicopter) ground course is designed to cover the syllabus requirements of AC61-10 Appendix II (Subject 65), and far more, comprising modules covering each of the sub-headings in the AC61 syllabus.

You will be provided with a course text, a course workbook, and with teaching sessions on each of the modules, including audio-visual presentations, videos and review questions.  The programme also includes a practice exam, in a similar style to the ASPEQ exams, which is designed to give you a gauge of your knowledge as at the end of the course and to act as a learning focus tool.  You will also be given a copy of the old ASL Sample Exam for your private study.

Please note that it is your responsibility to organise your own sitting of the ASPEQ exam.  We recommend that you schedule your exam for at least a few days after the end of the course, to give you time to absorb and review the material.

Duration:   3 days

Fees:   $800 (plus GST) in 2026.  Fee for 2027 TBA.   Includes tuition, Textbook (Waypoints PilotBooks Volume 11H), Workbook notes and the Performance Data Booklet.  The ASPEQ exam fee is additional.
