The Basic Turbine Textbook is designed specifically to cover the New Zealand syllabus requirements of AC61-10 Appendix II (Subject 64), and to assist you in developing your knowledge and understanding of the basic functioning and operation of turbine engines.
The purpose of this text is to explore the construction of gas turbine engines, the processes involved, and to help to prepare you to safely and efficiently operate aircraft powered by turbine engines. The text also provides you with an idea of how well you have mastered the material by providing a number of short answer review questions at the end of each chapter, and providing a section of model answers. Finally, and quite reasonably, this text is designed to help you to prepare for the ASL Basic Turbine Knowledge examination. That said, the best preparation you can get is to attend an approved ground course.
